or

Point-intercept form:
y-(-3)=2(x-0)

Explanation:

  • Method 1: Start from 1 point and then count the rise overrun.

Slope-Intercept Form:
y=mx+b

Start from the Y-axis where
b=-3 then rise/run to the next point. making that our slope.

  • Method 2: Using the point-intercept form

Point-intercept form:
y-y_0=m(x-x_0)

Solve the slope using the two points.


(0,-3) and
(2,1) plug those values into the formula. Make
(x,y)=(0,-3) and
(x_0,y_0)=(2,1)


-3-1=m(0-2)


-4=m(-2)


m=-2


y-(-3)=-2(x-0)
