Solve for the value of x in the equation 6x-42=36

6x-42=36
6x=36+42
6x=78
x=13

Answer:

x=13

Explanation:

do the opposite of 42 so add 42 to -42. That cancels out. Now you need to do the same on the other side of the "=" sign. so add 42 to 36 which is 78.

to leave x by itself divide 6 on both sides. 78÷6=13.
