Answer:

The height of the wall is 20 feet long while the length of the wall is 40 feet long

Explanation:

The complete question is as follows;

Leo wants to paint a mural that covers a wall with an area of 800 square feet. The height of the wall is 1/2 of its length. What is the length and height of the wall.

Answer;

From the question, we are made to know that the length of the wall is twice the height or the height is half the length

Let’s say the height of the wall is x, this means that the length of the wall which is twice this is 2x

Mathematically, to calculate the area of the wall, we will need to multiply the length of the wall by the height of the wall.

Mathematically;

x * 2x = 800

2x^2 = 800

divide through by 2

x ^2 = 800/2

x^2 = 400

x = √(400) = ±20 feet

but since how long a particular thing is cannot be negative, we ignore the -20 completely and select the 20 only

This is the height of the wall, the length of the wall is twice this which is 2 * 20 = 40 feet
