Explanation:

-2x-2y=-24 (EQ 1)

-3x-2y=-33 (EQ 2)

Combining terms we means we either add or subtract the equations in order to eliminate a x or y terms. Simply choose a equation and change it to it's opposite (ex. -3 becomes 3.)

Let's try swapping EQ 1

2x + 2y = 24

(Simply add similar variables and numbers like you would a addition problem.)

-3x-2y=-33

-x = -9

x = 9

Now plug that into one of your equations to get y.

-2(9) -2y = -24

-18 -2y = -24

(Add 18 to both sides.)

-2y = -6

y = 3
