Answer:

x = 3, y = 1

Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

y = -
(2)/(3) x + 3 → (1)

y = 2x - 5 → (2)

Substitute y = 2x - 5 into (1)

2x - 5 = -
(2)/(3) x + 3

Multiply through by 3 to clear the fraction

6x - 15 = - 2x + 9 ( add 2x to both sides )

8x - 15 = 9 ( add 15 to both sides )

8x = 24 ( divide both sides by 8 )

x = 3

Substitute x = 3 into either of the 2 equations and evaluate for y

Substituting into (2)

y = 2(3) - 5 = 6 - 5 = 1

Thus x = 3 and y = 1
