There are several water properties that play important role in hanging the earths surface such as unusual density and specific heat.

Unusual density: Water has property of unusual density, as it has high density in liquid form and low density in solid form. This property allows ice to float on water. This helps glaciers to be stable at ocean surface and if the density of ice will get high it will convert into liquid form.

Specific heat: Water has a high specific heat and loses heat slower than air. Due to this property, the ocean and lake water in summer is coldest in the early season and get warms after some days. so this property of water changes the temperature of earth surface.

Hence, water properties play important role in changing the earths surface.
