Answer: The cost of one orange is $0.8 or 80 cents.

Explanation:

2x + 3y=3.90 where x is the cost of 2 apples and y is the cost of orange

1x + 5y = 4.75

2x + 3y=3.90 solve both equations by elimination

-2(1x +5y) = 4.75(-2)

2x + 3y=3.90

-2x -10y= -9.5

-7y = -5.6

y= 0.8

2x + 3(0.8)= 3.90

2x + 2.4= 3.90

-2.4 -2.4

2x = 1.5

x= 0.75
