Answer:

The dimension of the plot is 30 yd by 20 yd

Explanation:

Given;

Area = 600 yd^2

Length = width + 10

l = w + 10 ......1

Area of a rectangular plot is;

Area A = length × width

A = l × w

Substituting equation 1;

A = (w+10) × w

A = w^2 + 10w

600 = w^2 + 10w

w^2 +10w -600 = 0

Solving the quadratic equation;

w = -30 or 20

cannot be negative

w = 20 yd

l = w+10 = 20+10 = 30yd

The dimension of the plot is 30 yd by 20 yd
