(3)/(2) ( cross- multiply )

3(a - b) = 2(a + b) ← distribute parenthesis on both sides

3a - 3b = 2a + 2b ( subtract 2a from both sides )

a - 3b = 2b ( add 3b to both sides )

a = 5b ( divide both sides by b)


(a)/(b) = 5, thus

a : b = 5 : 1
