The triangle is a right triangle, classified by it's 90° angle, or right angle. This means that you can use the Pythagorean theorem:


a^2+b^2=c^2

(a) and (b) are the legs and (c) is the hypotenuse. The hypotenuse is always the longest side and opposite the 90° angle. Insert the given values into the formula:


4^2+7^2=x^2

Enter this equation into the boxes, and done.
