let a,b,c be the length of sides of isosceles right triangle base

we have a = b and a*b/2 = 8 ft2

-> a*a/2 = 8ft2

-> a*a = 16

-> a=4ft=b

have c^2 = a^2 + b^2 = 16 +16 = 32
