One of them (and only 1) must be minus. That is the only way that you can get a minus 14.

The 7 must be plus. It has to larger than 2 in order to get + 5

Answer (x + 7)( x - 2) is how it factors.

Note

Always try using logic on the trinomial before going into the quadratic equation. If either the 5 is minus or the 14 is minus when one of the factors is minus. The sign in front of the middle number is the same as the larger of the two factors. So 7 must larger than 2. 7 is plus 2 is minus
