In a chemistry lab students use a filter paper cone to filter a liquid. The diameter of the cone is 9.5 cm and its height is 7 cm. How much liquid will the cone hold when it is​ full?

Explanation:

In this question, we are told to calculate the amount of liquid that a filter paper cone will hold when it is full.

This is obviously a volume question and the best thing to do is to calculate the volume of the filter paper.

Mathematically, the volume of the filter paper can be calculated using the formula;

V = 1/3 * pi * r^2 * h

where r is the radius which is Diameter divided by 2 = 9.5cm/2 = 4.75cm

and height is 7cm

Using the value of 22/7 for pi and plugging all other values above, we have;

V = 1/3 * 22/7 * 4.75 * 4.75 * 7 = 165.458333333333 cm^3

To 1 decimal place = 165.5 cm^3
