Could 7.7 cm, 4.0 cm, and 1.7 cm be the side lengths of a triangle?

Answer:

Only applicable if the triangle is right (a 90° angle measurement in one corner).

Using Pythagorean’s theorem, that can be answered.

(4.0)^2 + (1.7)^2 = 18.89

(7.7)^2 = 59.29

The legs A and B do NOT equal a hypotenuse of C, so the answer is NO.
