Why is Stalin known as one of the greatest mass murders of the century? What did he do to earn that title?

Joseph Stalin was the Soviet Dictator after the death of Vladimir Vladimirovich Lenin. He was known as a mass murderer because of his frequent use of KGB Secret Police and the Gulags to send away his political opponents, treasonous citizens, Spies, POWs etc. Inf act he killed more of his people then the amount of Jews Adolf Hitler killed.
