The food goes down the gullet to the stomach and the hydrochloric acids burn the germs that had escaped with the food and the food is churned after about three hours it then moves down to the small intestines where nutrients are absorbed and taken up into the body and then the residues move to the colon where water absorption takes place and later on the remaining waste is stored in the rectum ready for excretion
