Elizabeth competed in a race and found that her times for the swimming, cycling and running legs were in the ratio 3:1:2

If the quickest leg took 10 minutes, how many minutes did she take to complete the whole race?

Answer:

60 mins

Explanation:

Let the total time spent in all activities be X

So (1 divided by the total ratio ) of the total time = 10 [ because the least ratio has the shortest lap]

So total ratio = 3+1 +2=6

Therefore time spent on cycling is

1/6 * X = 10mins

X = 10 * 6 mins = 60 mins

Total time for all activities = 60mins

Answer:

30 mins

Explanation:

let time for cycling be a

-> time swimming = 3*a

-> time running legs = 2*a = 10 mins -> a = 5mins

Whole time = 3*a+a+2*a = 6*a = 6*5 = 30 mins
