The major goals of what became the Nonaligned Movement were to mediate the Soviet-US Cold War conflict, to urge the superpowers to disarm, to decolonize the world, and to obtain a larger share of global economic resources for the LDCs. The conditions that fostered and nurtured the concept of nonalignment have changed.
