$19.75 - $8.50 = $11.25/$3.75 = 3 pairs of earrings

1 necklace = $8.50
1 pair of earrings = $3.75
8.50+3.75 = 12.25
19.75 - 12.25 = 7.5
7.5 / 3.75 = 2
in total ava bought 3 pairs of earrings
