Patriarchy is a social system that places men in a position of privilege, leadership and dominance over women. This system is recurrent across the planet and has highlighted gender inequalities, violence against women and has placed women in precarious situations and without quality of life.

Although this issue is very debatable and the concepts related to patriarchy are combated, in Ghana the situation is even more worrying. The dominance of men in the country has provided women with fewer opportunities for education, work and fair wages. This ends up reflecting on the concept that women generate losses for families and therefore they must marry early, before the age of 18, where they will be exploited and often victims of domestic violence. The man has been placed as the owner of women and this is all the result of a patriarchal system, unjust and completely inappropriate.
