Mr Taylor arranges some chairs in row. He puts the same number of chairs in each of 7 rows and put 7 chairs in the last row. He sets up 70 chairs. How many chairs does he put in each of the 7 equal rows?

Let the number of chairs in each of the seven rows be X.

As no of rows are 7 then total number of chairs in those seven rows will be

7 times of the number of chair in each row(which is X)

Thus, total number of chair in seven rows = 7X

no of chairs in last row = 7

Total no. of chair = total number of chair in seven rows + no of chairs in last row

Total no. of chair = 7X + 7 ____________equation A

It given that total no of chair is 70

thus equation will be equal to 70

balancing equation A with 70 we have

7X + 7 = 70

=> 7X = 70 - 7

=> 7X = 63

=> X = 63/7 = 9

Thus number of chairs put in each of the seven row is 9.
