Microwaves and infrared radiations are similar because infrared and microwave radiation fit in the category of the electromagnetic spectrum.Both

transfer in the form as waves possessing wavering or constant changes in magnetic and electric fields. The waves are formed to be what we call... heat. Heat cannot be seen meaning the rays both don't have visibility to the human eye, however heat can be felt. So, the infrared rays have a different frequency than microwaves and has a wider range of specific frequency bands. Microwaves has specific bands of radiation. Infrared rays have a higher frequency than microwaves.
