Answer:

x = 5

Explanation:

x + 4 = 3(x - 2) ← distribute parenthesis by 3

x + 4 = 3x - 6 ( subtract 3x from both sides )

- 2x + 4 = - 6 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

- 2x = - 10 ( divide both sides by - 2 )

x = 5

Answer:

  • Solution of equation is 5

Explanation:

In the question we have given an equation that is x + 4 = 3 ( x - 2 ) . And we are asked to solve the question that means we have to find the value of x .

Solution : -

\longrightarrow \quad \: x + 4 = 3(x - 2)

Step 1 : Solving parenthesis on right side :

\longrightarrow \quad \: x + 4 = 3x - 6

Step 2 : Subtracting 4 on both sides :

\longrightarrow \quad \: x + \cancel{4} - \cancel{ 4 }= 3x - 6 - 4

On further calculations we get :

\longrightarrow \quad \: x = 3x - 10

Step 3 : Subtracting 3x on both sides :

\longrightarrow \quad \: x - 3x = \cancel{3x } - \cancel{3x}- 10

On further calculations we get :

\longrightarrow \quad \: - 2x = - 10

Step 4 : Dividing both sides by -2 :

\longrightarrow \quad \: \frac{ \cancel{ - 2}x}{ \cancel{ - 2} } = \cancel{( - 10)/( - 2) }

On further calculations we get :

\longrightarrow \quad \: \red{\underline\red{\boxed{ \frak{ x = 5}}}}

  • Therefore , value of x is 5 .

Verifying : -

We are verifying our answer by substituting value of x in given equation. So ,

  • x + 4 = 3 ( x - 2 )

  • 5 + 4 = 3 ( 5 - 2 )

  • 9 = 3 ( 3 )

  • 9 = 9

  • L.H.S = R.H.S

  • Hence, Verified.

Therefore, our answer is correct .
