X = Raul's marshmallows

#1
y = Jenny's marshmallows
x + 6 = y
Raul and Jenny each drank a
cup of hot chocolate after
playing in the snow. Jenny put 6
more marshmallows in her cup
than Raul. Together, they had a
total of 30 marshmallows. How
many marshmallows did each
person have?
x + y = 30

Jenny has 18 marshmallows
Raul has 12 marshmallows

All I did was divide thirty by 2 (because there were two people) and got 15. After I added 3 to Jenny’s side and subtracted that from Raul’s side.
