A rental car agency charges $12 per day plus 14 cents per mile to rent a certain car. Another agency charges $15

per day plus 9 cents per mile to rent the same car. How many miles per day will have to be driven for the cost of a
car from the first agency to equal the cost of a car from the second agency?

Let n the number of miles and C be the cost. We can represent the cost equations for each companies:

A: C = 12 + 0.09n

B: C = 8 + 0.11n

They want to know when the cost will be the same, so we can set the above 2 equations equal to each other and solve for n:

12 + 0.09n = 8 + 0.11n

0.02n = 4

n = 200
