One number is six less than a second number. The sum of twice the larger number and six times the smaller number is 28. Find the two numbers.

Answer:

8 & 2.

Explanation:

first number = x-6

second number = x

2(x) + 6(x-6) =28

2x + 6x -36 = 28

8x = 28+36

8x = 64

divide both sides by 8.

x = 8.

x-6 = 8-6 = 2.
