Explain the role abolitionists and anti-abolitionists including an explanation and definition of who these two groups of people were.

ROLE OF ABOLITIONISTS:

Abolitionists were people, particularly northerners, who faught in favor of abolishing (removing; stopping) slavery. Their main role was to denounce slavery and bring it to an end, which was eventually accomplished.

ROLE OF ANTI-ABOLITIONISTS:

On the contrary, anti-abolitionists played the role of encouraging slavery, and they were comprised of southerners in southern states who used slavery for labor.

DEFINITION OF AN ABOLITIONIST:

A northerner or person who is against slavery and wants to end it.

DEFINITION OF AN ANTI-ABOLITIONIST:

A southerner or person who is pro-slavery and wanted to continue it.
