10 to the 5th power = × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10

when you multiply by any positive power of ten, you are making it really big

23 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 2,300,000

30 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 3,000,000

100 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 10,000,000

the pattern is the whole number followed by 5 zeros that show 5 place values
