Let’s make x the other leg length since that’s what we are trying to find.

So it should look like this

Equation: 1.5^2 + x^2= 2.5^2

1) lets square them

2.25 + x^2 = 6.25

2) let’s get x^2 by itself so what we will do is subtract 2.25 from both sides

X^2 = 4

3) we need to remove the exponent from x so what we would do is put a radical on 4 and since we need to get four out of the radical, we need two of the same numbers that multiply to get four with is 2 because

2x2=4

4) so ur answer would be 2
