Because it protects the health of the individual and the health of the community from the spread of illness. I believe that some vaccinations such as several of the child hood vaccines like polio, measles, and smallpox should be required. They have been around for years and have been proven to be wipe out potentially harmful diseases. I believe other vaccine such as the flu vaccine should not be required. It should be a personal choice. Some people have been known to have bad reactions to these vaccines and the vaccine can be worse than the flu for some people.
