How would I find x, I know it's an isosceles triangle but I so not know how to solve-example-1

x=7 (if your teacher cares it could + or - 7)

Explanation:

Okay, since it's a 90 degree triangle you can use the Pythagorean theorem

( a^2 + b^2 = c^2)

Since it's an isosceles triangle the other side is x because it's the same value.

x^2 + x^2= (7
√(2) )^2

Add the left side

2x^2= 7^2 +
√(2)^2 roots and square roots cancel each other out

So -> 2x^2= 49 x 2 =98

just solve for x.

x^2 = 98/2

x^2= 49

Square root both sides

x= 7
