I believe it was caused due to social inequality as the other person said. More specifically, the 1st and 2nd estate was about 2 percent of the French population. Meanwhile, the 3rd estate was 98 percent of the French population. But, representation was represented equally among those 3 estates. For instance, the 1st estate has one representative, the 2nd had one representative, and the 3rd had one representative. Because of this, the 1st and 2nd estate joined forces and agreed upon a vote so the vote would be 2-1. The 3rd estate got angry and started a rebellion. I think there were more reasons but that’s the one that pops in my head at first.
