Explain two reasons why you believe many of the soldiers in WW1 got shell shock. (In your own words)

1. WWI soldiers got shell shock because the war they were fighting was much more brutal and deadlier then the previous wars, because of the industrialized machinery and styles of warfare that were introduced, such as the machine gun and trench warfare.

2. another reason might be because the age of entering the war was low compared to recent wars (19th century vs 20th century), which left the soldiers still developing minds prone to damage from the war.

Shell shock could manifest itself in a variety of ways. An inability to stop shaking and trembling was one common symptom of the condition. Lose of speech was another way in which a man could be affected.
