Susan and her sister ella are making baby blankets to sell at a boutique. Susan has already completed 8 blankets and can finish 9 more per day. Ella has already completed 10 blankets and can finish 7 more per day. At some point they would have completed the same number of blankets. How long would that take? How many blankets will each women have made?

Answer:

It will take 1 day.

Each women will make 17 blankets

Explanation:

We can model the number of blankets of Susan and Ella as linear equations:

Susan: B = 8 + 9*t

Where B is the number of blankets and t is the time in days.

For Ella, we have:

B = 10 + 7*t

To find when they will have made the same number of blankets, we just need to equate the value of B from one equation to the value of B from the other, and then we find the value of t:

8 + 9*t = 10 + 7*t

2*t = 2

t = 1 day

After 1 day they will have made the same number of blankets.

This number of blankets is:

B = 8 + 9*1 = 8 + 9 = 17 blankets
