A line passes through the point (-8, 4) and has a slope of - 5/4.

Write an equation in point-slope form for this line.

Answer:

y-4=m(x+8)

Explanation:

point slope form is y-y1=m(x-x1) where y1 is the y in the point the line passes through, and x1 is the x in the point the line passes through.

So, you can put in (-8,4) in as I did.

Also, since the x in the point the line passes through is a negative, and two negatives make a positive, that's why the x-x1 part changes into x+8
