Answer:

Boycotts are used as a form of protest; when people intentionally stop buying or using services from a certain place. An example would be in the American Revolution. After the British implemented a series of taxations on the colonies, people began boycotting British goods so they do not benefit economically and to prevent having to pay tax on the items.
