I didn't know how to act in our new home. I was sad and

angry about being forced to move from our land. But at the
same time I wanted to put on a brave face for my family
and for my people. I wanted to cling to our pride and our
traditions, but I also understood we were facing opponents
who were clearly stronger and better equipped. Eventually,
I realized that it would be better for us to abandon our
traditions rather than to fight a losing battle. I completely
embraced the new culture and have never looked back.
