To determine the volume of a cylinder you have to multiply the area of the base by the height of the cylinder.

Explanation:

The base of a cylinder is a circle. So we must find the area of the circle first. (Which is πr²)

Then we multiply the height by the area of the circle.

V = π·r²·h

This can be used in different ways as well,

if we don't know the radius but know everything else we could use the formula:


r=\sqrt{(V)/(\pi*h) } (r = √(V/πh))

If we don't know the height we use this formula:

(h = V/(πr²))
