Fracking, in my opinion, can be beneficial or harmful. It could be beneficial since natural gas is a needed bridging fuel for achieving 100 percent clean energy and eliminating coal and petroleum, and fracking is the most efficient method of extracting natural gas. Fracking has enabled the United States to produce and export more natural gas, enhancing national security and moving the country closer to energy independence. It can be harmful because fracking has the potential to pollute groundwater, raise greenhouse gas emissions, and create earthquakes. All fossil fuels, including natural gas, must be phased out of the US economy immediately.
