Answer:

176.25inches^(2)

Explanation:

The formula for the area of the triangle is :
(base*height)/(2)

To work this out you would first need to break the shape down into 4 smaller triangles.

Then you would need to work out the area of the triangles. You can do this by multiplying the base by the height and dividing it by 2. We will first work out the area of the first triangle at the top. To work out the area you would multiply the base of 7.5 by the height of 7.5, this gives you 56.25. Although the formula says you should divide the answer by 2 however as there are two identical triangles this action does not need to be done.

The next step is to work out thew area of the bottom triangles. To do this you would multiply the base of 7.5 by the height of 16, this gives you 120.

Now that we have found the area of both sides of the kite we can now add the values of 56.25 and 120 to work out the full area of the kite, this gives you 176.25 square inches.

1) Break the kite into smaller triangles.

2) Work out the area of the triangles at the top.

7.5*7.5=56.25

3)Work out the area of the triangles at the bottom.

7.5*16=120

4) Add the area of both sides.

56.25+120=176.25inches^(2)
