2x + y = 4 \\ 3x - y = - 14

Lets add 2 equations

5x = - 10 \\ x = - 2

Now we need to put x into any equation

2 * ( - 2) + y = 4 \\ - 4 + y = 4 \\ y = 8

Answer: (-2; 8)
