x = 18
Steps:
Remove the parenthesis...
4x-6+x = 12+4x
Then cancel out 4x...
-6+x = 12
Then regroup the terms...
x - 6 = 12
Add 6 to both sides...
x = 12 + 6
Then you get...
x = 18
