Luis has a Collection of shoes. 1/4 of his shoes or running shoes. Of the running shoes, 50% are red. What fraction of all his shoes are red running shoes?

He has a collection of shoes representing x in number. 1/4 of his shoes are running shoes. Thus we have

1/4 of x = 1/4x.

Of this fraction, 50% which is 1/2 are red. Thus, we have

The fraction of of all his shoes that are running shoes will thus be (1/2)*(1/4) = 1/8 of the total amount (x).
