A house is lifted from its foundations onto a truck for relocation. The unbalanced force lifting the house is 3000N. This force causes the house to move from rest to an upward speed of 0.15m/s in 5s. Find the mass of the house. SHOW ALL WORK

Answer:

305.19 kg

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question,

F' = m(g+a).............. Equation 1

Where F' = unbalance force acting on the house, m = mass of the house, a = acceleration, g = acceleration due to gravity.

make m the subject of the equation

m = F'/(g+a).............. Equation 2

a = (v-u)/t............ Equation 3

Where v = final speed, u = initial speed, t = time.

Given: v = 0.15 m/s, u = 0 m/s ( from rest), t = 5 s.

Substitute into equation 3

a = (0.15-0)/5

a = 0.03 m/s²

Also given: F' = 3000 N

Constant: g = 9.8 m/s²

Substitute into equation 2

m = 3000/(0.03+9.8)

m = 3000/9.83

m = 305.19 kg
