Answer:

3=m

Explanation:

If ABCD is a parallelogram that means its opposite sides are congruent.

If you look at it in picture form it would look like...

A______________B

I I

I______________I

D C

(please excuse my poor shape designing skills)

So if AD ad BC are opposite sides, they are congruent

this means..

3m+10 = 7m-2

First, add 2 to both sides

3m+10=7m-2

+2 +2

3m+12=7m

This cancels out the 2 on the right side of the equation.

Then, subtract 3m from both sides

3m+12=7m

-3m -3m

12=4m

the three cancels out on the left side and you are left with 12=4m

Last, divide 12 by 4

which gives you the answer of m =3

CHECKING YOUR ANSWER:

subsitute 3 into the equation for m

3(3)+10=7(3)-2

3(3)=9

7(3)=21

9+10=21-2

9+10=19

21-2=19

19=19
