Answer:

Volume :
V = ((1)/(2) ft)^3 = (1)/(8) ft^3 = 0.125 ft^3

Surface area:
SA = 6 ((1)/(2) ft)^2 = 6 ((1)/(4)) ft^2= (6)/(4) ft^2 = (3)/(2) ft^2 = 1.5 ft^2

Explanation:

We asume for this case we have have a cube with a side length of
1/2 ft and we want to find the volume and the surface area.

We can begin finding the volume using the fact the all the sides in a cube are equal and the volume is given by:

V = L^3

And replacing we got:

V = ((1)/(2) ft)^3 = (1)/(8) ft^3 = 0.125 ft^3

The surface area is given by:

SA= 6 L^2

Because in a cube we have 6 sides with the same area
L^2 and replacing we got:

SA = 6 ((1)/(2) ft)^2 = 6 ((1)/(4)) ft^2= (6)/(4) ft^2 = (3)/(2) ft^2 = 1.5 ft^2
