1/4x+1/4 *12=2

x/4+12/4=2

x/4+3=2

x/4=2-3

x/4=-1

x=-1*4

x=-4

Explanation:

x+12=8

x=8-12

he did not multiple both sides by four to get whole numbers. He also subtracted 12 which is not possible bc it is being multiplied by 1/4.
