So in order to get that half you must add the starting point and the endpoint together, but remember that you have to add x-coordinates with x-coordinates , and y-coordinates with y-coordinates. In this case, the x-coordinate for the starting point is 2 and the x-coordinate for the endpoint is 8 so add those together and that'll give you 10. But You're looking for the midpoint. So to find the half of something, you must divide by 2. So 10/2 is 5. Now you have the x-coordinate then do the same for the y-coordinate.
