equations to find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Answer:width=5cm length=24cm

Explanation:

Width=w

Length=L

Perimeter =58

Perimeter=2L+2w

2L+2w=58

There length is 4 more than 4 times it width

L-4=4w

L=4w+4

Substitute L=4w+4 in 2L+2w=58

2(4w+4)+2w=58

8w+8+2w=58

Collect like terms

8w+2w=58-8

10w=50

Divide both sides by 10

10w/10=50/10

w=5 width is 5cm

Substitute w=5 in 2L+2w=58

2L+2(5)=58

2L+10=58

2L=58-10

2L=48

Divide both sides by 2

2L/2=48/2
