Explanation:

Since there is no specific formula to work the area of this shape, we have to use the area of a square and the area of a triangle. We can see that the shape is composed of 2 regular shapes that we know the area's for hence why I put we have to use the area of a square and the area of a triangle.

Area of rectangle = 3 × 3 = 9

But we have a base length for the triangle as well as the triangle so we have to minus the square length from the overall length to find the triangle base length so 7 - 3 = 4

Area of a triangle = 1 / 2 × Base × Height

Area of a triangle = 1 / 2 × 4 × 3

Area of triangle = 6

Now we add the overall areas together to get the final area of the whole shape so

Area of the triangle + Area of the square = Total Area

6 + 9 = 15

So the answer is 15 units²
